Frequently Asked Question
No, not immediately. Just because you received a visa revocation or SEVIS termination notice doesn’t mean you are required to leave the country right away. Many students receive emails encouraging “self-deportation,” but you still may have options.
You are only required to leave if:
- You receive a Notice to Appear (NTA) in immigration court and are ordered removed by a judge.
Until then, you have legal rights and may be able to stay and fight your case.
What to do: Stay calm. Contact an immigration attorney. Do not book a flight until you know your options. If ICE hasn’t served you an NTA, you can often remain in the U.S. while sorting things out.
